Demand for family mortgages almost halved in October after the terms of the program were amended, the number of applications for family mortgages dropped to the levels seen at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. In the first two full weeks of October, banks received 13.7 thousand and 14 thousand applications, respectively, according to DOM data. RF. Compared to the weekly average in September, when 32.6 thousand applications were received, the demand decreased 2.4 times. Compared to the average for 2026, the decrease was 48.1%. From October 1, the conditions of the program changed: instead of a single rate of 6% per year, differentiation was introduced according to the number of children and the region. For families with one child under the age of seven, the rate is 10% in most regions and 12% in the Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Leningrad regions. For families with two children - 8% and 10% respectively. More favorable conditions remain for large families. This is the second notable drop in demand within a year. In February, the number of applications dropped by 40% after the introduction of the "one family - one preferred mortgage" rule: now spouses must act as co-borrowers. Overall, family mortgages are less in demand in 2026 than in previous years. On average, the banks receive 26.1 thousand inquiries per week compared to 41.5 thousand in 2025, almost 40 thousand in 2024 and 36.9 thousand in 2023.
