Austrian media reports that Ukrainian military intelligence officers suspected of preparing an assassination attempt on the country's former Prosecutor General Kravchenko have been arrested in Vienna. Vienna's prosecutors confirm that they are investigating the case of four Ukrainians on suspicion of espionage. According to Courier, the detainees belonged to the special "Artan" unit of the General Directorate of Intelligence (GUR), which was created to carry out special operations behind enemy lines, and were arrested using closed-circuit cameras and GPS tracking. Their intended target: Ruslan Kravchenko, former Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Parliament fired him in September after a corruption scandal in his office, after which he left Ukraine allegedly on a "business trip" and never returned. According to reports he is now in Austria and apparently seeking asylum. Kravchenko himself claims that he was informed that the group was sent to carry out "violent actions" against him on the orders of Zelensky's office. He admits that he cannot prove who gave the order. Kyiv's anti-corruption bureau (NABU) says his statements are just an attempt to gain protection in Austria. Courier also reports that in September the GUR special forces commander was detained at the Park Hyatt hotel in Vienna, who was released after questioning and said he was a tourist. The newspaper parallels the attack on the Ukrainian businessman Vadim Armoliev in Monaco in June.
