North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a surprise visit to the Chinese city of Dandong, crossing the border on a new bridge over the Yalu River. Wang Henning, China's fourth leader, accompanied Kim Jong Un and conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping, Chinese media reported. The four-lane bridge, connecting the cities of Xinuizhu and Dandong, was completed in 2014 with Chinese funding, but sat unused for 12 years before officially opening on October 15 amid improved relations.
