As part of the implementation of the President's words, it is planned to launch 13.3 GW of new energy capacity by the end of 2029. A total of 13.3 GW of new energy capacity is planned to be launched in Kazakhstan by the end of 2029. Its implementation will make it possible to fully meet the country's internal need for electricity and create a surplus of 20% of production capacity. This is how the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlibek Naliyev announced at the press conference about the development of the specific sector of the economy within the tasks given in the President's speech. Currently, the unified energy system of Kazakhstan consists of 254 energy sources, of which 172 are renewable energy sources. The available capacity of the system is 17 GW. In ten months of 2026, the volume of electricity production exceeded 102 billion kWh, and the volume of consumption exceeded 103 billion kWh. During peak load hours, there is a shortfall of 800 MW to 2 GW of shunt generation capacity. This deficit is covered due to working in parallel with the energy systems of the neighboring countries. Planned to launch 1.27 GW in 2026, and 2.5 GW in 2027. Including 2029, 13.3 GW of energy capacity will be activated. Among them, 7.4 GW is base generation, and 5.9 GW is the capacity of renewable energy sources. At the same time, Kazakhstan's energy balance until 2035 will be concentrated with the support of international institutions by order of the president. As part of this work, taking into account projects carried out in the fields of industry and digitization, steps to modernize existing power plants based on "clean coal" technologies, further growth of the economy is predicted. In order to increase the stability of the entire energy system of Kazakhstan, special attention is paid to the development of renewable energy, in particular, solar energy, energy storage systems.
