Ayatollah Mujtaba Khamenei said that the results of the mid-term elections in the US will not change Washington's hostility towards Iran, and warned that any renewed aggressive action by the US would cause much wider reactions. In response to the elections, he said that those who still hope that changes in the political parties in the US will change the way the country conducts itself, or that compromises can move it away from the path of hostility, are wrong. He added that the developments in the Persian Gulf, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, destroyed America's invincible illusion and exposed the weakness of governments that rely on foreign powers and not on their own people.
