In an interview with IRNA on Friday, Salehi referred to the defeat of the Republicans in the US midterm elections, saying that one American publication described the result as a Republican defeat against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to him, the American officials confronted Iran without considering the consequences, under the influence of Israeli propaganda, and now they are facing the consequences.
Salehi emphasized that the issue facing Washington today is not only how to withdraw from the war, but how to preserve its credibility and reputation, since the confrontation with Iran has called into question the myth of American military invincibility.
He also said that Washington's false narratives have not weakened Iranian public opinion or national unity, and that the United States has not succeeded in overthrowing the Islamic Republic, breaking Iran, dividing the people and government, or pulling the country into its political path.
Salehi emphasized that the outcome of the conflict was the opposite of what Washington was looking for, and resulted in greater national unity, stronger public support for the Islamic Republic and growing opposition to Western policies.
