American aggression endangers the livelihood of Iranian fishermen: Rashmi Tehran, IRNA -. The CEO of the Kashem Fishermen's Cooperative says that the US military aggression against Iran has threatened the fishermen's livelihood, destroying fishing boats and vessels and killing several fishermen. At the World Food Day conference on Monday, Moussa Gabidal said Hormozgan's fishing community plays a vital role in the country's food security, with the Persian Gulf providing a significant share of its seafood protein.
However, he added that the fishermen of the districts have faced extensive challenges in recent months due to conditions of war, climate change and security threats.
He said that 420 fishing vessels and 70 fishing boats were destroyed during the recent war imposed by the United States and Israel. In addition, 15 fishermen were killed and 11 were injured.
Damage to fishing ports and piers, along with the oil pollution caused by the war, also affected fishing grounds and marine habitats, he added.
