An Iranian-American professor says the United States and its allies are losing the war of attrition against Iran, adding that blockades and sanctions imposed as part of the illegal aggression against the Islamic Republic constitute war crimes. David N. Yagoubian, an international affairs analyst and professor at California State University, stated in an exclusive interview with IRNA that blockades and sanctions implemented in support of an illegal war of aggression amount to collective punishment, which are war crimes under international humanitarian law.
Yagoubian further noted that attempts to limit Iranians' access to food and medicine, disrupt the transportation sector, and endanger aviation safety constitute crimes against humanity.
He also emphasized that it is clear that the United States and its regional allies are losing the war of attrition against Iran.
Below is the full transcript of the interview:
IRNA: In light of the continuation of the war of attrition against Iran, the expansion of sanctions and the consequences of this war within the United States, does the Donald Trump administration have a clear path towards ending the war as the United States approaches its midterm elections?
David Yagobian: Regardless of the domestic political calendar in the US, the Trump administration maintains only one clear path to ending the war, and that is to accept the seven conditions formulated by the Iranian government. These conditions include the cessation of hostilities on all fronts and the cessation of US intervention in Iran's affairs, the release of Iran's frozen funds, the end of the naval blockade and the recognition of Iran's naval authority in the Strait of Hormuz.
