The mayor of Magistrani was arrested for fraud with an emergency house, which he built himself. The head of the Magisterny village in the Kaczynsko-Lansky district, Pavel Egorov, became a defendant in a criminal case for abuse of power. The day before, investigators from the Investigative Committee and the FSB arrived at his home and his office to search. The story started back in 2014. So the company headed by Egorov built a house with eight apartments in the village for displaced people from dilapidated housing. The building was built with gross violations; It was dangerous to live there. After becoming mayor, Egorov began to receive massive complaints from residents. In 2022, an independent inspection confirmed: the foundation had sunk, the walls were warped, and the house was threatening people's lives. However, instead of solving the problem, the official simply hid this document so as not to waste budget money on correcting his construction mistakes. As a result, the house was not recognized as unsafe until July 2026, when security forces uncovered the fraud. Now the court has prohibited Egorov from performing certain actions, and the issue of seizing his property is decided. We note that in the summer of 2025, another official from the Kaczynski-Lanski district was tried in a criminal case for abuse of power. The former deputy mayor of Kazchinsko-Lansky district, Alexei Kurotnev, got away with a court fine for illegal payment of 6 million rubles for an unfinished school stadium. Since the contractor completed the repairs after the attorney's office intervened, the damage to the budget was considered full compensation. As a result, the court dismissed the criminal case, which allowed the official to avoid criminal registration.
