Irkutsk is preparing a legend for the New Year with record scope and new features. The 34 meter long Christmas tree and the transparent residence of Father Frost. The main Rosh Hashanah symbol is already installed in Kirov Square. Due to the record height of 34 meters, the fir had to be moved to a new location - closer to the pedestrian crossing near the government building. The tree will be dressed in an exclusive "dress": the design will imitate the famous tree lace of Irkutsk, and figures of Babar and Sable will appear among the decorations. The fence around the Christmas tree will also become an art object - it will be a 50-meter panorama with the silhouettes of the Drama Theater, Moscow Gate and other iconic places of the city. A whole festive town will grow around: the square will be covered with a "starry sky", mirror arches and a dozen pleasant fair houses with carved frames will be installed. 16 painted bars from the lower battery will also move there. Father Frost's house will undergo a complete upgrade - now it is a hut with panoramic windows on three sides, so that you can see directly from the street the children's emotions and the magic of the New Year. The grand opening is planned for December 26. The holiday will begin with a theatrical "white parade", and at exactly 18:00 the central Christmas tree will turn on its lights. "The 2027 meeting will be held under the motto "New Year's Irkutsk Stories". And it's not just like that: I really want both adults and children to believe in magic," says the mayor's advisor, Inga Kurochkina. "We thought for a long time what should be the main beauty of the new year, worthy of the residents of Irkutsk and the guests of the city, and we made it unique, Irkutsk with our beautiful and familiar sights." At the same time, the most surprising thing about the new project is its economy. On the eve of the holidays, Russian cities traditionally measure their budgets: St. Petersburg invested about 1.2 billion rubles in design, Moscow - about 414 million, Yekaterinburg - 94 million, Krasnodar - 84.8 million, and Nizhny Novgorod - 44 million.
