The Kayhan newspaper, which is published under the supervision of a representative of the leader of the Islamic Republic, wrote in a letter criticizing the existence of "Halloween in the streets, malls, cafes and virtual space", "the promotion of absurd and imported rituals like Halloween in the streets and in virtual space is a pain that sits in the heart of every jealous and concerned Iranian." This newspaper considered holding such celebrations on Saturday, November 7, under conditions of political tensions and livelihood problems, as a sign of "loss of cultural self and denial of revolutionary values". Pointing to the spread of Halloween among young people and even some kindergartens, Keehan presented social networks and the activity of bloggers as factors promoting this ritual and wrote: "This is not the right to happiness, which is a masochistic and self-harming act that the West, with the seasoning of bloggers' dollars and the insinuations of social networks, gives to some of our youth." This newspaper also criticized the guardians of culture and the regulatory institutions and asked: "In what bunker are they sleeping when they invade the borders of national identity like this? Kayhan demanded to deal with the spread of imported rituals and pay more attention to Iranian and Islamic traditions.
