Hoshang Hassaniari, an expert on the Middle East and military affairs, said that the arms cooperation between Russia and the Islamic Republic continues and its dimensions go beyond the usual military deals. According to him, by supplying advanced equipment and expanding missile cooperation with Tehran, Moscow is pursuing long-term goals and indirectly confronting America. Hasaniari added that Donald Trump's government needs Russia on the one hand to advance the peace talks in Ukraine and to maintain the diplomatic channel with the Islamic Republic, and on the other hand it is faced with Moscow's continued military support for Tehran. He assessed this cooperation as a threat to the interests of the United States and the security of the countries in the region.
