While Michael Carrick's future on the team's bench is still unclear, Manchester United contacted Didier Deschamps, the head coach of the French national team, and saw him as one of the possible options to replace Carrick. According to French media Shuk Legel, Manchester United managers have been looking at different options for replacing the head coach in recent weeks. The team's 3:2 against Roma in the Champions League temporarily eased the pressure on Crick, but his position is still precarious. The 58-year-old Deschamps, who retired from leading the French national team this summer after 14 years, won the 2018 World Cup with that team. He previously coached in Monaco, Juventus and Marseille and won the French league with Marseille. After leaving the French national team, Deschamps hoped to lead Real Madrid, but this club chose Jose Mourinho. According to reports in the French media, Deschamps is in no rush to return to training and although he is willing to listen to new offers, he has not yet shown much enthusiasm to accept the leadership of Manchester United.
