Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants US President Donald Trump to attack Iran immediately after the Nov. 3 midterm elections on Tuesday, but Trump wants to give talks a chance for now, Axios reported on Sunday, Nov. 1, citing an Israeli source and a US source.

According to the report, Trump and Netanyahu discussed the status of talks with the Islamic Republic and the date of the resumption of military operations in a phone call on Saturday, October 30. The Israeli source described the conversation as "difficult" and the American source as "honest". The White House and the Israeli Prime Minister's Office declined to comment.

Axios wrote that Trump is simultaneously working on two tracks: trying to reach an agreement to resume direct negotiations and preparing for the possibility of a return to large-scale military activity after the elections.
