Reuters reported on Thursday, November 7, citing two sources familiar with the matter, that the US oil companies ExxonMobil and Chevron canceled the travel plans of their top executives to the Adipex oil and gas exhibition in Abu Dhabi due to security concerns caused by the possibility of new US attacks on Iran and Tehran's retaliatory response.
According to these sources, Darren Woods, CEO of ExxonMobil, and Kelly Neff, head of Chevron's upstream division, were scheduled to attend this event next week.
ExxonMobil and Chevron declined to comment on the cancellations. The National Oil Company of Abu Dhabi, ADNOC, also entrusted the responsibility of the organizer of the conference.
This decision was made in a situation where concerns about the possibility of US attacks on Iran again and the military response of the Islamic Republic affected the oil markets.
According to Reuters, there has been no attack by Iran against the United Arab Emirates since May. However, Adipak's online application still lists the names of senior executives from other companies, including Meg O'Neill, the CEO of BP, and Anders Opdahl, the CEO of Econor.
