On Wednesday, November 6, at the meeting of the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, the representative of the Netherlands demanded an immediate end to the illegal executions, arbitrary arrests and violence against the Iranian people.

Referring to the findings of the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran and the Independent International Fact-Finding Commission, he said: "These reports confirm widespread and serious cases of human rights violations by the Islamic Republic, including a significant increase in the use of lethal force and mass arrests of protesters."

The representative of the Netherlands also lamented the killing of civilians, including children, in Iran and the region, and called for a diplomatic solution to the war and full compliance with international law by all parties.

Referring to the refusal of the Islamic Republic to cooperate fully with the human rights mechanisms of the United Nations, he demanded the support of the international community in efforts to hold the perpetrators of human rights violations accountable.
