Mai Sato, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, announced on Wednesday, November 6, in a speech on the human rights situation in Iran, that in one case 34 people were tried in five days, 12 people were sentenced to death, and seven of them have been executed so far.

The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran said: "At least 34 people were executed in connection with the 1404 protests and at least five people were executed in public."

He added that the families of those killed in the protests are still under pressure to remain silent and face the threat of criminal punishment and confiscation of property due to their demand for truth and accountability.

The UN Special Rapporteur also announced that thousands of people have been arrested on security charges and many of them are being held in unknown locations without the possibility of communicating with the outside world.

Referring to the threats, the summons and the arrest of several lawyers defending the protesters, Sato said that the guarantees for a fair trial in Iran have been greatly weakened.
