The representative of France in the UN Security Council announced that the return of this council's sanctions against the Islamic Republic is completely legal and all member states of the UN are required to comply with it.

On Tuesday, November 5, in response to the statements of the representatives of Russia and China, the representative of France said that in August 2025, in response to Iran's non-compliance with its nuclear obligations, France and its partners in a group of three European countries activated the process of returning the sanctions of the Security Council.

The French representative said that the direct result of this action is the return of the decisions made in the Security Council between 2006 and 2010 to limit Iran's nuclear program.

The representative of France emphasized: "This situation is now an objective reality that all member states of the United Nations are required to meet."

He also said that the issue of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons remains on the agenda of the Security Council, because the necessary conditions for a final settlement of Iran's nuclear issue have not yet been met.
