The Hill publication, citing sources with knowledge of the matter, reported that the US military's Central Command, CENTCOM, was preparing options to strike again in Iran, possibly after the midterm congressional elections in November. According to these sources, the attack plans were given to Pete Gast, the US Secretary of Defense, and their implementation depends on the approval of the White House. Gregory Barrow, an expert on Iran issues at the Eurasia Group, said he is considering the possibility of renewed US attacks after the election. According to him, Washington may increase military pressure to force the Islamic Republic to accept the agreement. Hill also reported that the authorities of the Islamic Republic warned that in the event of a new attack by the US or Israel, Tehran's response would be more severe and extensive than before. In response to Hill, the US Department of Defense stated that the office's duty is to prepare military options for the president, but it does not refer to possible future actions. According to this report, America has more than 50,000 military forces and about 20 warships in the Middle East and is sending more equipment and troops to the region.
