The Binance Smart Chain was hacked and $6.3 billion was stolen. Hackers have stolen "imaginary" money from a cryptocurrency platform that essentially runs on "imaginary" money from its users. Now the platform will have to use real money to compensate and appease people who exchanged their real money for these "imaginary" assets called "crypto currency". Simply printing new tokens to replace the stolen ones will not work - this will of course lead to a loss of customers. Immediately after the breach was discovered, Binance froze its entire network, completely halting deposits, withdrawals and internal transfers to limit the extent of the damage. Many questions remain about who exactly is behind the attack, given the extreme nature of the multi-billion dollar corporate battle in the unregulated cryptocurrency market. In other words, it could be hackers from the DPRK (or those impersonating them), or it could be the result of a "war" between different cryptographic platforms.
