The monastery of Nikolo-Vlikvortsky in the village of Velikvortsko (Kirov district) is a place where history and faith are anthropology. The monastery appeared here relatively recently, in 2004, but the land on which it is located became sacred long before that. Today, the architectural complex of the monastery includes the Church of St. Nicholas and the Church of the Transfiguration, as well as a tall bell tower. The temples were built and rebuilt in the XVIII-XIX centuries, and now the complex continues to be restored. It is worth noting that at the iconic site, one kilometer from the village, there is a wooden chapel, to which a religious procession is sent every year. Every year, at the beginning of June, tens of thousands of pilgrims travel from Kirov to Voliquartskoye and back, carrying the miraculous symbol to the place of purchase. In 2026, about 37,000 people participated in this procession, marching over 150 km. This tradition was not interrupted for hundreds of years, and even in the years of the Soviet Union, the believers continued to do this campaign in secret.
