Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein announced on Saturday in an interview with the Qatari channel "Al Jazeera" that the US had officially asked Baghdad to block all but two of its border crossings with Iran. According to informed sources, this action was taken due to Washington's fear of movements of Iraqi militia groups and smuggling through these borders, and now only two crossings remain open in Basra and Sulaimaniyah. Iraq's foreign minister, who warned that the current situation indicates the possibility of war in the region, announced a loss of approximately 60 billion dollars to Baghdad due to the cessation of oil exports from the Strait of Hormuz and stated that Iraq's oil exports resumed after understandings with Washington and Tehran. He also emphasized that Iraq informed the authorities of the Islamic Republic that although it accepts friendly relations, it does not accept Tehran's interference in its country's internal affairs.
