NBC News, citing two U.S. officials, reported Friday that advisers and security officials have told Donald Trump, the president of the United States, that his opportunity to launch an attack on Iran is "limited" and coming to an end, and they have asked him to act within the next eight weeks, before the new Democrat-majority Congress begins in January. According to this report, there are differences of opinion on this issue within the Trump administration. So the Secretary of War, Pete Heggest, insists on repeated attacks, while the Vice President, J. Dee Vance, favors a negotiated solution. Possible targets for this operation have been assessed to include the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities and oil and gas infrastructure, but although Trump has previously authorized military operations several times and canceled them shortly before the start, no final decision has yet been made.
