Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araji and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atti discussed regional developments and diplomatic efforts to calm tensions in a phone call on Wednesday night.
The two ministers discussed concerns about the return of tensions and the renewal of military measures, as well as the efforts of the countries of the region to strengthen dialogue and diplomacy, return to the negotiating table and reach an agreement that takes into account the parties' concerns, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.
In the conversation, Abdel-Atti called for "flexibility" on the part of the parties and a serious effort to find a political solution, stressing that restraint and increased diplomatic consultations must prevent a renewed escalation of the military conflict. He also described the security of the Gulf states as part of the national security of Egypt and the Arab world.
