On Tuesday, Nov. 3, digital currency exchange Binance released a detailed report on its $6 billion hack, showing how the attackers were able to steal that amount using fake job interviews and malicious code. This attack was carried out on Thursday, November 7, in about four hours, and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) attributed it to hackers affiliated with North Korea; a charge Pyongyang has denied. According to Binance's investigation, the attackers began their work in June by targeting a system engineer and convincing them to install an infected version of homebrew software. In Shahriver, by baiting another engineer through job search sites and holding a fake job interview, the attackers managed to gain his trust and transfer to him the test file containing malware.
