On Tuesday, November 3, Majid Alansari, spokesman for Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said of Doha's efforts to mediate between Iran and the US, as long as both sides are committed to the negotiation process and examining the proposed proposals, there is still "a glimmer of hope" to come.
Al-Ansari said: "If there was no glimmer of hope, there would be no negotiation." He added that Qatar as a mediator cannot lose hope, especially given the importance of the outcome of these negotiations for the people of the region.
The spokesman for Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced the continuation of consultations with both sides and said that it is not possible to talk about a specific development at the moment, but that Tehran and Washington are still committed to the negotiation process and are examining the proposals presented by the mediators. According to him, Doha's efforts to reduce the differences between the two sides continue.
On Monday, the Qatari delegation held talks with Islamic Republic officials in Tehran for more than three hours and then returned to Doha. Qatar has announced that it seeks to reach an interim agreement to build trust and provide the basis for further negotiations.
