Said Mehrazadi, Director General of the Office of Supervision and Performance Management of the Food and Drug Organization, announced the identification of a case of drug fraud in which a person replaced distilled water with the original drug and sold it for 150 million Omanis. Ipadna, the official news site and information network of the Ministry of Health's Food and Drug Organization, quoted Saeed Mehrazadi as saying that the investigation revealed that the drug container sold to the buyer belonged to a different drug. The contents of this container were emptied and filled with distilled water, and the seller provided it to the buyer with the original drug label. Referring to the difference in the price of this drug in the official network and the open market, Maharazadi said that the price of the original drug in the official network and in government currency is about 90 million tomans, but its purchase from the open market costs between 500 and 600 million tomans. The Director General of the Inspection Office of the Food and Drug Organization warned that the appearance of a drug with the original sample is not a sign of its authenticity, and the container of the drug with the original label may contain a completely different substance. He also emphasized that buying medicines from the virtual space and the informal market, in addition to causing heavy financial damages, could endanger the health of patients and the medicine must be purchased from official and authorized centers.
