Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov attended the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Atlanta, USA on Friday, November 8, including the ministerial banquet. This meeting will be hosted by Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State.
Lavrov's presence at this meeting was accompanied by the reaction of several foreign ministers of European countries. According to Reuters, the protest of some European officials to take a joint photo with the Russian foreign minister caused the cancellation of the traditional group photo of the ministers.
Rubio and Lavrov also had a short conversation on the sidelines of the meeting. Lavrov described the conversation as "not bad, even though it was short," and said that the two sides discussed relations and cooperation in international forums.
The two-day meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of 20 will take place in Atlanta on October 8 and 31, and Russia's war in Ukraine, developments in the Middle East, energy security and world trade are among the main topics of the talks.
