Despite the ban on Halloween celebrations by the authorities of the Islamic Republic, the photos posted on social media show that groups of people celebrated this event on the night of Thursday, November 7 in Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad and Bushehr by wearing special costumes and face makeup; That too, in a situation where there are still fears of the possibility that the war will start again.
Halloween is held every year on the last night of October, equal to October 31st, but it seems that some people who are interested in this event in Iran have chosen Thursday night of October 29th to hold their celebrations. In the photos published from different areas of Tehran and other cities in Iran, there are participants in the streets with different costumes and make-up faces, and some of them also participated in this ceremony as a group. These celebrations are taking place while the authorities of the Islamic Republic, as in previous years, have imposed restrictions to prevent events related to Halloween, and the Chamber of Guilds of Iran previously issued a directive, prohibiting any celebration or gathering on this occasion.
According to this guideline, restaurant and cafe owners are not allowed to hold special programs for Halloween or promote and sell items related to this event. The Chamber of Guilds of Iran also warned that if these restrictions are ignored, the violating guild units will face legal action and signature of the business house. This trade union stated that the purpose of imposing the restrictions is to maintain order and social security, but the photos posted on social media show that the warnings and bans announced did not prevent the celebration of Halloween in some Iranian cities.
Government spokesman Masoud al-Badishian, in response to the people's acceptance of Halloween, called for more attention to national and religious ceremonies and said that instead of holding such ceremonies, focus should be on Iranian events and traditions.
