AFP quoted a judicial source as reporting that the military court in Lebanon, on Friday, November 8, charged 13 people with involvement in sending a shipment of explosives to Hezbollah. This action was taken after a shipment of about 500 kg was seized in October. These accusations are made at a time when Hezbollah, as a major political and military force in Lebanon, recognized as a terrorist group by the United States and Israel, is under increasing pressure. The group has weakened after successive wars with Israel and now faces a concerted effort by senior officials in Beirut and the support of the Trump administration to disarm its military arm. Of the 13 defendants, 12 of whom are Hezbollah members and one is the wife of one of them, only two have been arrested and the identity of eight has been determined. while the other five are only known by pseudonyms. Their charges include violation of government decisions, possession of weapons and explosives and criminal conspiracy. After the announcement of the confiscation of this shipment, in a rare case, Hezbollah took ownership of the vehicle and the explosives and demanded its return.
