Chris Murphy, the Democratic senator of the United States Senate from Connecticut, warned on Thursday, November 7 that the plan of the Donald Trump administration to renew the war with the Islamic Republic will lead to a destructive escalation of the conflicts and a weakening of the rule of law.
Criticizing this program, he said: "Their program is crazy. This plan will lead to a devastating escalation of the conflict and perhaps to the destruction of our adherence to the rule of law." In a speech at the Middle East think tank in Washington, Murphy said that in one of the briefing sessions he had the opportunity to receive information on the details of the US government's military plan in the event of a resumption of operations against Iran.
This Democratic senator also wrote in a message on the X social network that Donald Trump plans to renew the war with Iran after the election. Pointing out that some senators were aware of the military plan, he said that he could not reveal its details, but that this plan would not achieve its goals and would start a new cycle of escalating tensions. Addressing reports that civilian infrastructure could be targeted, Murphy said Trump had asked officials to prepare a military plan, though it was unclear how much the planners of that plan believed it would succeed.
