The implementation of the plan to remove the emergency fuel card from stations in 11 provinces in Iran has created concerns about the possibility of refueling non-native cars and passengers who do not have a personal fuel card.
According to Ferraro, this project is implemented in the provinces of Hormozgan, West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, South Khorasan, North Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan, Ardabil, Yazd, Kurdistan, Kerman and Sistan and Baluchistan, and drivers in these provinces must use their personal fuel card to refuel.
This limitation can be especially problematic for long trips. For example, the distance between Tehran and Mashhad is about 900 kilometers, and a car with an average consumption of eight liters per 100 kilometers consumes about 75 liters of gasoline to travel this route; A figure higher than the tank volume of many local passenger cars. As a result, drivers who do not have a personal fuel card may encounter difficulty refueling during the route or destination. People who had lost their gas cards or had zero-mile cars whose cards had not yet been issued also depended on the gas stations' emergency cards to get fuel. It may take 30 to 60 days to issue a new card.
