Amidst speculation regarding the possibility of a joint US-Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, November 7, that Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the US military's Central Command (CENTCOM), presented Donald Trump with military options for attacking Iran in a rare meeting at the White House. According to U.S. officials and people familiar with the details of the meeting, Secretary of War Pete Guest and General Dan Cain, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were also present at the meeting. This meeting was held a day after the meeting of senior military commanders with J. Dee Vance, Vice President of the United States. Trump administration officials have previously warned Arab Gulf states to be prepared for a short but intense military operation after the US midterm elections. Trump also said last week, referring to the massive US-Israeli strikes last spring: "Maybe we'll have another epic tantrum, or they'll make a deal." At the same time, the Pentagon has sent more air defense systems, ammunition and equipment to the Middle East in recent weeks and withdrawn some American forces from vulnerable bases. The US military is also delivering another Patriot missile system to Israel to strengthen the country's missile defense capabilities.
