Labor activist Paramarez Taufighi, referring to the severe decline in the purchasing power of the working class in Iran, announced that by the end of October, the minimum subsistence basket rate for working families had reached 100 million tomans. According to this labor activist, chicken, which was the last protein product available on workers' tables, has now been effectively removed from their food basket, as the price per kilogram has reached 350,000 tomans.
Taufigi strongly criticized the rampant inflation and the jump in the price of basic food products such as potatoes, onions and carrots and emphasized that the income of 20 to 30 million tomans is in no way responsible for the basic expenses of life. Comparing the financial pressure on the workforce with corruption and huge oil debts to the national treasury, he said that after a month of hard work, the workers are not even able to buy a few chickens and have become a shame to their families.
