On Monday, November 4, Microsoft announced that it has offered voluntary redemption to about 60,000 of its employees, equivalent to 27% of the company's global workforce, by accepting a support package. This decision was made as part of Microsoft's attempt to reduce costs and provide resources for extensive investment in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to Agence France-Presse, this offer includes qualified employees in some of Microsoft's divisions in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and India. Some employees of departments such as data centers, sales and marketing are not included in this plan. Amy Coleman, Microsoft's senior vice president and director of human resources, announced that the program is designed to increase flexibility and provide more opportunities for employees to make decisions about their future careers. Canada's CBC also reported that employees in departments such as artificial intelligence, co-pilot, finance, human resources, Xbox and Windows are among the people included in this offer. Microsoft did not say how many Canadian employees accepted the offer.
