This is Munir's second trip to Tehran in less than a week; This trip was carried out in the presence of senior officials of Saudi Arabia and Turkey in order to discuss regional security.

During Munir's previous visit to Tehran on Tuesday the 28th of Mahar, Razai's cold and inactive behavior when welcoming the Pakistani army chief contrasted with the warm welcome of Masoud al-Madijian and was widely reported in the media. By publishing photos of this meeting, some media pointed out the clear difference between the behavior of these two Iranian officials and the Pakistani guests.

The Pakistani newspaper Dan also reported on Munir's previous trip that he went to Tehran to convey messages and examine the possibility of resuming negotiations based on the Islamabad memorandum, but these talks did not lead to significant progress or an official agreement. At the new meeting in Tehran, the officials of the four countries discussed regional cooperation and efforts to strengthen peace and security.
