Ali Aslami Ramhi, CEO of the Union of Hormozgan Fishermen's Cooperative Societies, warned on Sunday, November 3, about the cut in fuel for about 12,000 unlicensed fishing vessels in this district and announced that the continuation of this situation threatens the livelihood of thousands of coastal families and could lead to an increase in unemployment. Barna news agency quoted Islami Ramhi and reported that fishing is the only source of income for many of these ship owners. According to him, more than 70% of the ships without a license fish with the hook method, and their continued activity depends on the allocation of licenses and fuel supply. He emphasized that the owners of these boats created employment opportunities in the coastal areas of Hormuzgan with their personal capital, but the fuel cut and the uncertainty in issuing the licenses severely damaged their economic activity. The CEO of the Hormuzgan Fishermen's Cooperative Association asked the government to investigate the situation of unlicensed vessels in cooperation with the Research Institute of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and by facilitating the process of issuing licenses and organizing fishing boats, to provide the basis for the continued activity and livelihood of coastal families.
