Ismail Bakai, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, in a conversation with the German channel ARD, who stated that Tehran never left the negotiating table and did not close the window of diplomacy, said at the same time that we were always ready to defend our land. The spokesman for the Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry confirmed that Tehran and Washington communicate through intermediaries and said: "The problem is that America insists on its unilateral demands." He added: "Don't forget that the President of the United States and other high officials of this country regularly use the same phrase: total surrender. This is something no Iranian will accept." Bakay also stressed that Iran had nothing to do with the operation against UK air bases. Regarding the situation of the Strait of Hormuz, he reiterated Tehran's position and said: "This waterway is not safe, not because Iran has made it unsafe, but because America and Israel have abused it."
