Senate unanimously approves PEC for public safety The Senate has approved the PEC for public safety in two rounds. In the final vote, held this Tuesday (3), the proposal received 75 votes in favor and none against, ending its processing in Congress. The text is intended to declare and provides for the integration of the security forces throughout the country through the United Public Security System (USSP), in addition to expanding the tools to fight organized crime and militias. Before the vote, the senators removed the amendments on lowering the age of criminal responsibility from the text, which will now be dealt with separately. The proposal also expands the powers of the federal highway police, authorizes the establishment of a municipal police force for visible and community policing and establishes stricter rules for members of criminal organizations. The approval paves the way for the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Security, one of the priorities of the federal government. If it comes out in , it's true!
