Colombia assesses the legality of the American military presence The President of the Colombian Congress, Onorio Henriquez, asked the government to clarify whether the presence of US military personnel in the country requires approval from the Senate. According to Telsur, the parliamentarian stated that training provided in cooperation agreements does not require legislative approval, but the deployment of armed soldiers in the national territory depends on approval. Henriquez also mentioned the cooperation with Israel. The United States Southern Command announced the sending of 350 soldiers to joint exercises with more than 400 Colombian soldiers. The maneuvers begin this Friday and continue until November 11, at the Tolmayda military base, in the Kundinamarka department. The plan envisages an exchange of tactics and procedures between the forces of the two countries.
