The main shrine of the Gelati Monastery is in a stable condition, Georgian Culture Minister Maya Bitadze said. According to her, this is the result of the joint work of the Patriarchate, the state, international experts and Georgian experts. The phased restoration of the complex is financed by the state, and the work is carried out according to a conservation plan, which experts developed based on UNESCO recommendations. "Our main goal is that the Gelati monastery, as a symbol of the unity, faith and national identity of our country, will have a future of hundreds of years," said the minister. Let us remember that in 2023, due to the unsuccessful results of previous works and the critical condition of the monument, the Patriarchate took the leadership of the restoration.
