From 2027, the number of flights between Shanghai and Tbilisi will increase to five a week. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Economy of Georgia Tamar Yosliani after a meeting with the Vice President of China Eastern Airlines. Since July 2026, the airline operates flights on this route three times a week. According to Yosliani, increasing the frequency of flights will help deepen ties between countries, develop tourism and attract investments. It should be noted that in 2025 passenger traffic between Georgia and China increased by 76%, and in the nine months of 2026 - by an additional 36%.
