The head of the Georgian parliamentary committee on foreign relations, Nikoloz Samharadze, said that the European Union suspended the dialogue with Tbilisi in order to apply pressure over the foreign influence transparency law. According to him, the Georgian side has offered many times - both in public and in closed meetings - to discuss this law from a legal point of view. He noted that Georgia is ready to consider amending the law if at least one point or article that contradicts European standards is pointed out, but no such comments have been received from the European Union. "Our initiative has always been met with silence and a closed door, and this has been going on for two and a half years now," Samharadze said. In his opinion, the purpose behind this was to interfere in the elections against the Georgian dream, so that outside money would flow to the opposition forces. He also added that if the parties do not get out of this impasse, it will not benefit either the European Union or Georgia.
