The National Bank of Georgia is increasing the share of the Chinese yuan in reserves to increase their stability. As the head of the regulator, Natia Ternava, said, the reserves are denominated in dollars in accordance with the structure of the national debt, however, as part of the diversification policy, the National Bank purchased both monetary gold and other currencies, including the yuan, which makes the reserves more stable. According to her, Asian markets have different dynamics: when shocks occur in Western markets, the situation in Asian markets can be completely different. Previously, the share of the yuan was limited to 5%, now it is planned to gradually increase it to about 15%.
