The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced an international tender for construction supervision services as part of the Kobuleti expansion project. The estimated value of the contract is $20.67 million. Applications from interested companies are accepted until December 10, 2026. The project provides for the expansion of the existing two-lane highway to four lanes with a length of 31.3 km from Shekvetili to Chakvi tunnels. The construction is divided into two phases. In the first, 13 km long, it is planned to build three rebels. In the second, about 18 km, two new tunnels will be built parallel to the existing ones. The approximate speed of traffic on the updated road will be 120 km/h. The first site is planned to be built in 36 months, the second - in 48 months. The supervision contract also provides for a five-year period of elimination of possible defects. The upgrade should increase route capacity, reduce travel time and reduce the risk of accidents.
