October 27 is Teacher's Day in Georgia. In the past, the country congratulated them on October 5, International Teachers' Day. However, according to the government's decision, the date was moved to the birthday of Yaakov Gogbashvili, a teacher, journalist and children's writer. On this day, every year, for their special contribution to the development of society and the education system, distinguished teachers are awarded the National Teacher Award, a specially designed badge and a cash prize of 10,000 GEL. Yaakov (Yaakov) Gogbashvili is best known for his masterfully compiled primer, the elementary children's book "Dada Eina", which in an updated form is still a textbook in Georgian schools. According to the legend, one day, when the writer was sitting in the meadow, he heard the voice of a little girl running to him with a flower in her hand: "Here is a violet, David Ya'akov, here is a violet" (in Georgian: "Ey Aya, Dzia Yaakov, Ey Aya"). In 2013, Deda Aina was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of Georgia. An interesting fact: in schools teachers are usually not addressed by their patronymic name. They simply say "mast" - short for "mastsavlebeli" (teacher). Or - name + "Mass": "Rita Maas", "Manana Maas", "Gyorgi Maas".
