Georgia increased the import of solar panels 8.2 times - to a record of 158 million dollars. In the months of January-September 2026, panels will be imported to Israel in this amount, which is 139 million dollars more than in the corresponding period last year, reports B. מ.ge. Such a sharp increase is mainly due to the construction of large solar power plants. Among the largest projects are a 73 megawatt solar power plant in Marnioli (in southern Georgia), which was implemented with the participation of the German Voltars Energy, and a 105 megawatt plant in the village of Yagludza in the same municipality, which is being built by the Georgian subsidiary of Chinese Sungro - Itek Marnioli. Other, smaller solar power plants are being built throughout the country, and there is also a growing interest among private homeowners in installing panels. For comparison: during the entire year of 2025, Georgia imported solar panels worth 24 million dollars, and in the nine months of 2026, this figure was exceeded by more than six.
