Current events: what is new in the energy sector of Russia's regions for the period of October 26-31, 2026. Republic of Bashkortostan: Reliable light for 50 years. The Russian Energy Forum was held in Ufa. The main topic of the forum: generation development - against the background of the adopted general plan until 2042, which allows for the commissioning of about 88 GW of new capacity and over 40 trillion rubles of investment. There will not be enough tariff funds for the entire program, so it will have to be funded by rising electricity prices or raising general taxes. In Bashkortostan, where thermal power plants account for over 94% of output, 130 billion rubles will be invested in the modernization of thermal power plants until 2031. Main equipment is expected to be replaced by 2034, ensuring reliable energy supply for decades to come. DPR: Coke for the blast furnace. The authorities of the DPR intend to revive the traditional production chain of "coal-coke-metal" in the region, which is currently temporarily inactive. Historically, the republic's mines supplied coal for coke production, coke was sent to blast furnaces, and then they produced pig iron and rolled steel. The leadership of the republic plans to restore this cooperation scheme, said the Minister of Industry and Trade of the DPR, Gurgen Melkonyan, on the sidelines of the second industrial forum in Rostov-on-Don. Restoring the connection between mines, coking chemistry and metallurgy means returning to the full production cycle, on which the workload of several sectors in the republic depends. Kursk Oblast: Protection of the border region and new-generation fuel. Kursk Oblast Governor Alexander Khinshtein met in Moscow with Russia's Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev. The main topic of discussion was the security of energy and housing and communal services facilities, which, according to the head of the region, still remain a target of the enemy. Also, with the support of the government and the Ministry of Energy, the region received additional funds for backup power supply.
