The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions against 10 individuals and one organization for participating in financial schemes developed at the direction of the DPRK leadership to defraud US companies. These activities provide financial support to North Korea's weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and ballistic missile programs, the rationale said. "The North Korean regime continues to exploit American companies through the fraudulent activities of its foreign information technology agents, who kiss proprietary data and extort significant sums of money from companies," said US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant. Among the ten people included in the sanctions list are eight North Korean citizens and two Russians: Vitold Viktorovich Oberts and Ilya Aleksandrovich Boykov.
