President Trump said he believed the June ceasefire deal with Iran was a "waste of time" and said he was initially skeptical of the deal. The agreement, brokered by Pakistan on June 17, called for an end to military operations, an end to the US naval blockade of Iranian ports and negotiations for a permanent settlement. It also reaffirmed Tehran's previous commitments not to develop nuclear weapons. Trump said his administration continues to consider further steps regarding Iran. According to him, Washington must decide whether to try to achieve its goals by military means or conclude a new agreement with Tehran.
